Egypt's busy Cairo Airport annually serves more than 11 million passengers from all over the globe.

Salah Salem Road and the Autostrad Road both connect the airport with the cities of Heliopolis and Cairo. An airport bus departs from Terminal 1 and services Cairo, as well as several other local destinations, including Giza. Black and white taxis, located outside the Arrivals halls of both terminals, can transport passengers to destinations across Cairo.

Cairo International Airport (CAI) Information: History and Facilities
Built during the mid-1940s and serving American Allied Forces, Cairo International Airport was soon used for civil aviation purposes after the end of the Second World War. The overall facilities within the terminal were improved and commercial flights both to and from Cairo were encouraged.

Following considerable growth at Cairo Airport, two further terminals have been built, in 1986 and 2007, with the original terminal being fully modernised and now used mainly by EgyptAir. Terminal 3 is capable of accommodating the new generation of Airbus planes and future predictions expect to see passenger levels at Cairo Airport more than doubling.

Next to Arrival Hall 3 in the original Terminal 1, the new AirMall is a large shopping centre, where all your needs will be met. Further duty-free shopping at Cairo Airport is available in Terminal 2, along with a good restaurant situated between both arrivals and departures.
